A consultative meeting was called by the Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA) concerning utilization of Fish Port landing quays/piers on June 7, 2019 at the PFDA Conference Room, Tambler, General Santos City. SOCSKSARGEN Federation of Fishing and Allied Industries, Inc. through its Project Officer, Virgie A. de Dios, and Arlie M. Nava, Administrative Officer of South Cotabato Purse-Seiners Association, attended the said meeting.
The meeting tackled and highlighted the policies of the port regarding harbor operations, to pave the way for smooth delivery of port services.
To ease port congestion, a memorandum will be issued by the PFDA-General Santos Fish Port Complex (GSFPC) requiring all clients to comply with the following procedures: a) Fishing vessels carrying fish cargo and needing fish unloading operation, shall be No. 1 priority; b) All fishing vessels intending to load provisions and supplies shall only be accommodated from 12:00 noon to 5:00 P.M on a daily basis, to ease fish unloading procedures; c) All fishing vessels on standby for a considerable period of time shall no longer be allowed; and d) All fishing vessels shall not be allowed to conduct any major repair activity inside the PFDA-GSFPC.
To allow for time to properly disseminate and ensure compliance with the new procedures, the target effective date will be on June 16, 2019.
