The SOCSKSARGEN Federation of Fishing and Allied Industries, Inc. (SFFAII), in partnership with USAID Oceans and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), conducted a four-day Electronic Catch Documentation and Traceability System (eCDTS) Users' Training for the First Movers (FMs) and Non-First Movers on February 4 and 6 to 8, 2019, at East Asia Royale Hotel, General Santos City. The user training aims to capacitate the FM and Non-FMs for the implementation of eCDTS later this year.
The First Movers (FMs) from the Fishing Vessel Operators (both Handline and Purse Seine), Canneries and Fresh Frozen Processors attended the first day of users’ training. K-Marx Macalalag, the eCDTS Lead Developer, presented the eCDTS system to the participants of the said event. Macalaag said that his team fix the issues and concerns that had been raised during the previous user training. They also developed a mobile application of the system. He then introduced the new features in the system. He demonstrated the step-by-step process on how to log in, the new layout, and how to fill out the necessary information required by the system.
On February 6, Non-First Movers from the Fishing Vessel Operators (both Handline and Purse Seine), Canneries and Fresh Frozen Processors attended the second until the last day of training. Macalaag presented the eCDTS background and updates. He also presented its system highlights, the process and its importance.
On February 7, Mr. Macalalag presented the system to the fishing vessel operators (both handline and purse seine), and on February 8 for the canneries and fresh frozen processors. He showed the step-by step process from logging in into the system to filling out the necessary details as required by the electronic form.
The participants were given a chance to do a hands-on training on how to fill out the electronic forms using the system. During the hands-on training, the participants were able to raise their concerns and suggestions to help improve the system.
