SOCSKSARGEN Federation of Fishing and Allied Industry Inc. (SFFAII) was invited to participate in the consultation meeting for the Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) and Zoning Ordinance (2019-2026) last November 6, 2018, at Greenleaf Hotel GenSan.
The meeting aims to give updates on the new version of GenSan’s land use plan and zoning ordinance to cope with the ongoing developments and address related challenges being faced by the city. It also aims to solicit suggestions and recommendations among the stakeholders regarding the updated version of CLUP.
The General Santos City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. and LGU GenSan through City Planning Development Office have organized series of consultation meetings with regard to the revision of the city’s CLUP and zoning ordinance. The city’s existing zoning ordinance was enacted by the city council on Dec. 13, 2001 and approved by then city mayor Pedro Acharon Jr. on June 6, 2002.
CLUP is a planning document prepared by LGUs to rationalize the allocation and proper use of land resources and enacted through the zoning ordinance. It projects public and private land uses in accordance with the future spatial organization of economic and social activities. The Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board (HLURB) has set the maximum planning period for CLUPs at nine years and allowed local government units to review, update and amend them after three years.
