On September 10-14 2018, Mr. Supol Singhapoom, USAID Oceans Monitoring & Evaluation Specialist, and Ms. Melinda Donnely, USAID Oceans Senior Communications Manager, visited General Santos City to conduct a Supply Chain Baseline Survey and Communications Documentation. The activity would collect data and document the current practices of the First Movers (FMs) using the paper-based CDT system. The survey data will be used as benchmarks to measure the benefits/value of using the electronic CDT system in replacing the paper-based system.
The activity surveyed the following FMs: PhilCinmic Industrial Corp, Marchael Sea Ventures Corporation, General Tuna Canning Corporation, Tuna Explorers Inc, Mommy Gina Tuna Resources, Rell and Renn Seafood Sphere Inc., and Rell and Renn Fishing Corporation.
The team then surveyed thirteen (13) first mover municipal fishing operators in Alabel, inspectors and validators from Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Region 12, BFAR Region 12 eCDTS Technical Working Group, municipal and provincial government units of Sarangani, in relation to the implementation of the Fisheries Annex and adoption of an Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management.
